A Juneteenth Warning: From Freedom to Folly – Are We Sleepwalking Into Another War?
On this day of remembrance, Col. Douglas Macgregor sounds the alarm: The war with Iran has already begun—and we’re not ready for the truth.
Juneteenth 2025. A day meant to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. A day for reflection. A day for celebration of freedom, hard-fought and overdue.
But today, let us not just remember the past. Let us awaken to the present danger—a danger that threatens to send America down another long, bloody road of endless war, deception, and domestic instability.
In a recent conversation with journalist Rachel Blevins, retired U.S. Army Colonel and former Pentagon adviser Douglas Macgregor gave what may be the most sobering and candid assessment of America’s current trajectory: we are already at war with Iran—and most Americans don’t even know it.
“Just as we are a co-belligerent in Ukraine, we have from the beginning been a co-belligerent in the war with Iran that Israel has started.”
This isn’t speculation. This is not political theater. This is the testimony of a senior military insider who understands the true machinery of war.
Trump’s Turn
Donald Trump campaigned on “no new wars.” Like Obama before him. Like Biden. Like Bush Jr. did in 2000. It is the campaign promise Americans cling to—because deep down, the people know that these wars are not about freedom, defense, or democracy.
But Trump, Macgregor warns, is now preparing a full-scale bombing campaign on Iran. It’s not if—it’s when. And the rationale being sold to the public is chillingly familiar: regime change, “nuclear threat,” defense of allies. Yet U.S. intelligence officials admit there’s no active Iranian nuclear weapons program. The Director of National Intelligence said so. CNN quietly confirmed it. Still, the bombs are being loaded.
“Truth is in short supply,” said Macgregor. “What matters is whether or not people in the United States feel the pain.”
Pain is Coming
Macgregor details the likely course of escalation:
Coordinated air and naval attacks.
Retaliation against 40,000 U.S. troops in the region.
Supply chain breakdowns.
Oil price surges.
A potential nuclear Pandora’s box if Israel faces collapse.
His gravest fear? The American public won’t wake up until gas hits $7 a gallon. Until the six-pack and the football game disappear. Until our malls or ports are attacked. Until it's too late.
“We're not being led by rational people,” he states flatly. “It’s a mix of arrogance, wishful thinking, and self-delusion.”
A Broken System, A Hollow Democracy
Col. Macgregor calls out what many Americans suspect but dare not say aloud: we are ruled by a UniParty. The three branches of government have become the media, the military-industrial complex, and the moneyed political elite. Left and Right are illusions. The public is managed, not represented.
“Everyone in Washington is rotten to the core when it comes to this business. Why? Because of money.”
So here we are. On Juneteenth.
A day meant to honor the end of one of America’s greatest sins.
A day to remember that freedom was never freely given. It was demanded, fought for, and eventually won—but not without immense cost.
And now, once again, another generation may be asked to sacrifice their lives, their families, and their future for a cause as hollow as the justifications we’ve heard before.
The Call for Peace—and Truth
Macgregor offers a sane alternative: a great power peace conference. Bring the United States, Russia, China, India, and Brazil to the table. End the bloodshed in Gaza. Prevent further escalation. Stop the madness.
But he knows the truth: peace doesn’t profit.
So, on this Juneteenth, let us do more than remember the chains of yesterday. Let us break the illusions of today.
Let us ask—before it's too late:
Why are we at war?
Who truly benefits?
And what will we do, now that we know?
